Towards implementing an Internal startup

The Innovative Solutions Group of the DX Design Planning Department, which I belong to, is a new department that was established in April 2024. In this group, we plan DX-related projects and work on "in-house startups".

Although it is simply called an in-house startup, it is a very wide-ranging and diverse initiative. When launching the group, we started by considering the group vision to solidify the policy and direction that the members should work on.
First, we will focus on the issues within DLTX, create a system that will be appreciated even for small things, and have people try it out within the company. We also aim to try out many initiatives and scale up the ones that work well to group companies and outside the company.
As an example, we are working on redesigning the use of in-house conference rooms.
We have created prototypes such as a web app that shows the availability of conference rooms in real time and are verifying them while collecting and analyzing data.

Another of our missions is to foster a good internal culture.

We have launched an event called "Lightning Talks" within the company, and we plan and run initiatives that promote internal communication and lead to innovation.

We still have a lot to explore, but we are prioritizing speed and are actively conducting interviews and gathering information both inside and outside the company with the aim of realizing an internal startup.

Past experience in creating something from scratch

I think the appeal of my current job is that as long as I have the enthusiasm, I can raise my hand and say, "Let me take on this task!", and take on a new challenge. Instead of doing the work I'm told to do, I find the work myself, so it's a rewarding and fun job. I also have the opportunity to consider ideas based on users' issues, have users try out prototypes, and get direct feedback, so I feel a sense of accomplishment.

Sometimes I feel the difficulties that come with being in a new department. There are many tasks that have no precedents or set procedures for proceeding with the work. Therefore, I have to think independently and act on issues, research, and how to proceed with internal coordination. I value cooperation and consultation with my superiors and team members as I proceed.

Since joining DLTX, I have worked in administrative departments such as human resource development, business management, and corporate planning. During that time, I experienced childbirth and childcare, which made me realize once again the importance of work-life balance. The turning point in my career was my experience in 2021 at Studio Xedge, a human resource development department that deals with cutting-edge technology. Through my experience at Studio Xedge, I became attracted to the idea of creating something from scratch. I also believe that gaining knowledge about the latest technology has greatly expanded the range of things I can do.

For example, we are also working on an initiative to set up a booth at an event at the mall and hold a programming experience workshop. My experience in planning and running several workshops for both inside and outside the company while at Studio Xedge has been useful in these endeavors.

Inspiring the Next Generation

DLTX has created new organizations such as the Innovative Solutions Group, and I feel that the environment in which we can take on challenges is expanding. I would like to contribute to fostering a culture at DLTX by taking the initiative in planning new initiatives.

We also have new employees who have just joined the company. I would like to work together with my new colleagues to share ideas and work to achieve the group's mission. My personal vision is to become a role model who makes my juniors and new employees think, "I want to take on challenges like that person".
